đ¨ Abstract
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced plans to weaken drinking water limits for certain "forever chemicals" (PFAS) set in 2024, citing health risks like cancer and cardiovascular disease. Limits for GenX chemicals and a mixture of PFAS types will be reconsidered. The EPA will maintain standards for PFOA and PFOS, the most common PFAS, but grant utilities an extra two years for compliance.
