Carla Hayden, the first Black woman to serve as Librarian of Congress, was abruptly fired by the Trump administration. The appointed interim librarian, Todd Blanche, has not assumed his role, leaving Robert Randolph Newlen, the principal deputy librarian, to lead the library.
