💨 Abstract

On May 13, 2025, Francisco Severo Torres of Leominster, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to attacking a flight attendant with a broken metal spoon and attempting to open an emergency door mid-flight on United Airlines Flight 2609 from Los Angeles to Boston in March 2023. Torres, who has a history of mental health issues, was restrained by passengers and arrested upon landing. He could face life imprisonment.
