💨 Abstract
The U.S. government released a list of sanctuary jurisdictions that critics find confusing due to misspellings, inclusion of communities with low immigrant populations, and those supportive of federal immigration enforcement. The list, part of the Trump administration's efforts to target non-compliant communities, could lead to financial penalties. However, the criteria for the list are unclear, and some communities on the list do not identify as sanctuaries, creating confusion and controversy.
