💨 Abstract
In South Sudan, airstrikes have injured dozens of civilians, including Wiyuach Makuach, who lost an arm. The violence escalated in March when militia overran a military barracks, sparking a government offensive and clashes with opposition groups. The fighting has displaced many and caused significant harm to civilians, especially in remote areas like northern Jonglei State. The U.N. warns that South Sudan is nearing civil war again.
