In the Midwest and eastern U.S., a rare June heat wave continued on June 22, 2025. Temperatures reached dangerous levels, with heat indices expected to exceed 100°F (37.7°C) in several cities, including Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Columbus. The heat wave began the previous day and was forecast to persist into the following week, shifting eastward, with high temperatures predicted for New York City, Boston, and Washington, D.C
