💨 Abstract
A Chinese scientist, Yunqing Jian, and her associate, Zunyong Liu, were charged with attempting to smuggle the toxic fungus Fusarium graminearum, a potential agroterrorism weapon, into the U.S. Liu was caught with the fungus at Detroit airport, and both are accused of conspiracy, smuggling, and visa fraud. Lius earlier directed messages from China showed interest in legitimizing their activities for research using lab facilities without proper permits.
