💨 Abstract
After nine days of closure due to flooding and a rock slide caused by heavy rainfall. Crews reopened a section of Interstate 40 through the Great Smoky Mountains. The highway, already undergoing repairs from damage by Hurricane Helene, has one lane in each direction in certain areas. The nine days closure was due to approximate 2.5 to 3.5 inches of rain that fell in the area on June 18.
