💨 Abstract
In Florida, a federal judge has mostly rejected attempts by activists to block a new law restricting the citizen initiative process for ballot amendments. The law, which imposes stricter rules on petition gathering, aims to combat fraud but has been criticized for making the process burdensome. Activists sought to overturn parts of the law, claiming it violates their First Amendment rights. Judge Mark Walker granted only a narrow injunction, allowing one campaign staffer to avoid criminalization for petition fraud.
