💨 Abstract
In June 2025, immigrant families at Texas detention centers shared accounts of harsh conditions, including fights for water and denied medical care, as part of a legal motion to preserve the Flores Settlement Agreement. This agreement ensures safe and sanitary conditions for detained immigrant children. The Trump administration's proposed legislation, aiming to make detention indefinite, faces challenges from these testimonies. Advocates warn that without the Flores agreement, oversight and accountability would be severely compromised.
