In Dakota del Norte, strong winds, including a tornado, caused three fatalities and severe damage to a regional airport. Nearly 150 million Americans were under heat warnings due to extreme temperatures. The storms also impacted Minnesota and Wisconsin, with reported tornadoes, large hail, and powerful wind gusts, including a 106 mph gust in Bemidji. Meanwhile, nearly 59 million Americans faced extreme heat advisories, with temperatures 20 degrees above normal in parts.
