💨 Abstract
A ceremonial groundbreaking will occur for the rebuilding of the First Baptist Church of Williamsburg, one of the nation’s oldest Black churches. Established in 1776, the church's congregants first met in secret before constructing a wooden meetinghouse in 1805. The original building was destroyed by a tornado in 1834, and the site was later turned into a parking lot.
