💨 Abstract
A Virginia man, Rui Jiang, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for planning a mass shooting at a church in 2023. Jiang, 36, was convicted of posting online threats and carrying weapons to Park Valley Church in Haymarket. He was also convicted of a hate crime and faces five additional years of supervised release. A concerned citizen and church security team thwarted the attack, which was motivated by a manifesto found in Jiang’s apartment.
