💨 Abstract
On July 16, hackers accessed personal data of most 1.4 million customers of Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America through a third-party cloud system. The breach involved social engineering, where the attacker used deception. Allianz confirmed the incident, saying its own systems were untouched. The company has engaged the FBI and other authorities, and is offering affected individuals two years of identity theft protection and credit monitoring.
