💨 Abstract
A former Columbus, Ohio police officer, Adam Coy, was sentenced to 15 years to life for murdering Andre Hill, a Black man who was holding a cellphone and keys. Coy shot Hill in 2020, claiming he mistook the items for a gun. Hill's family and witnesses testified that Hill was not a threat. Coy plans to appeal, stating he acted in self-defense.
