💨 Abstract
A Virginia judge ruled that prosecutors cannot use a recorded interview with the daughter of an IRS agent charged with murdering his wife and another man. The judge, Penney Azcarate, denied the motion, citing a statute that allows a child’s interview only if the parent directly victimizes the child. The defendant, Brendan Banfield, is charged with aggravated murder in the 2023 deaths of his wife, Christine, and Joe Ryan.
