💨 Abstract

As climate change intensifies, U.S. land managers are increasingly relying on controlled burns and natural fires to manage overgrown forests and mitigate wildfire risks. Grand Canyon National Park has successfully used this method, but recent fires, including one that started on July 4, 2025, have highlighted the challenges, with strong winds and dry conditions making fires harder to control. Despite setbacks, experts stress the importance of fire as a land management tool.
