💨 Abstract
NASA has identified a third interstellar comet, designated 3I/Atlas, observed using the Atlas telescope in Chile. The comet, currently 416 million miles from the sun, will approach the sun in October, passing between Mars and Earth at a safe distance of 150 million miles. Astronomers worldwide are monitoring it to determine its characteristics. The comet will be visible through September and is expected to reappear in December.
