💨 Abstract

Treaty talks in Geneva to reduce plastic pollution failed, with oil-producing countries like Saudi Arabia and the U.S. opposing production caps. Current efforts focus on recycling, reuse, and product design, but recycling plastics is challenging due to their varied compositions. Only 6% of plastics are recycled, contributing to significant environmental and health issues. Experts advocate for reducing plastic production and promoting reusable and sustainable materials. Efforts to improve recycling infrastructure and consumer habits are ongoing but face limitations.
