💨 Abstract
Two bakery owners, Leonardo Baez and Nora Avila-Guel, were found guilty of harboring and concealing undocumented employees, a rare criminal accusation for business owners. Both owners had legal permanent residence, but the eight employees they hid—six with visitor visas and two undocumented—did not have work authorization. The couple, sentenced in November, were allowed to return to work and remain on bond. Their bakery received community support after reopening.
