💨 Abstract
In New York City, an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease has claimed two lives and affected 58 individuals since late July. The disease outbreak origins are linked to contaminated cooling towers. The disease, caused by Legionella bacteria, spreads through contaminated water systems and is not transmissible between people. Symptoms include cough, fever, headaches, and shortness of breath, and can be fatal if untreated.
