💨 Abstract

A Russian court declared the punk group Pussy Riot an “extremist organization,” banning its activities and risking criminal prosecution for its members. Known for their 2012 protest against President Vladimir Putin, the group has been active in opposition, often from exile. In September, five members received prison sentences ranging from 8 to 13 years for spreading “false information” about the Russian military, linked to an anti-war music video and an art performance.
