💨 Abstract
The Senate passed a $901 billion defense bill and quickly followed with a bipartisan measure to enhance flight safety. The new bill mandates all aircraft to use ADS-B technology to broadcast their locations, aiming to prevent incidents like the January collision between a military helicopter and an airliner over Washington, D.C., which killed 67 people. The move comes after the NTSB reported 85 near misses in the preceding three years.
