💨 Abstract
Russia sentenced an Australian, Oscar Jenkins, to 13 years in a maximum-security prison for fighting with Ukrainian forces. Jenkins, 33, was convicted of mercenarism. Australia's Foreign Minister, Penny Wong, condemned the "show trial" and called for Jenkins' release. Russia accused Jenkins of earning $7,400-$10,000 monthly as a mercenary and denied him prisoner-of-war protections. His family seeks his liberation.
