💨 Abstract
Shingles, caused by the varicella-zoster virus, can affect anyone who has had chickenpox. It often presents as a painful rash, commonly on the stomach, but can also appear on the face or neck. The CDC recommends the Shingrix vaccine for adults 50 and older, and those 19 and older with weakened immune systems, to prevent shingles and complications like postherpetic neuralgia.
