💨 Abstract
Ecuadorian security forces captured Adolfo Macías, alias "Fito," the leader of the criminal gang Los Choneros, after an 18-month manhunt. The operation, conducted entirely by Ecuadorian personnel, involved intelligence services and lasted ten hours. Fito was found hiding in a bunker in Manabí province. He was taken to a maximum-security prison, and Ecuador is considering his extradition to the U.S. for drug and arms-related charges.
