💨 Abstract

Mexico's foreign ministry condemned parts of a preliminary report by the OEA on Mexico's June 1 judicial elections. The OEA criticized the low voter turnout (13%) and high rate of blank or null votes. The SRE argued that the OEA overstepped its authority by judging Mexico's sovereign process. The elections, resulting from a 2024 constitutional reform, marked the first time a country's entire judiciary was chosen through universal suffrage.
