On June 7, 2025, Sovereignty won the 157th Belmont Stakes at Saratoga, defeating Journalism in a rematch from the Kentucky Derby. The race, run on a fast track, saw Sovereignty and jockey Junior Alvarado lead a field of eight, winning in 2 minutes, 0.69 seconds.
