💨 Abstract
Colombian President Gustavo Petro accused former foreign minister Álvaro Leyva of planning a coup with U.S. support. Petro responded to a report in El País claiming Leyva discussed a plan to unseat him with advisors of U.S. President Donald Trump. Leyva, who has publicly criticized Petro, had previously been suspended due to allegations of irregularities. Vice President Francia Márquez denied any involvement, while both former Interior Minister Armando Benedetti and Foreign Minister Laura Sarabia condemned the alleged plot.
