💨 Abstract

The 2026 World Cup will be the first to feature 48 teams, with 104 matches held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The tournament will have 12 groups of four teams, with the top two from each group and the eight best third-place teams advancing. Each confederation has designated slots, with Europe getting the most direct spots (16). Repechage tournaments will determine the last two qualifiers.
