💨 Abstract

An extremely dangerous heatwave gripped the eastern U.S. as a strong heat dome peaked, pushing temperatures to record highs, endangering tens of millions. Over 250 daily temperature records may be shattered by Tuesday. Approximately 150 million people are under heat alerts, with temperatures 15-20 degrees above normal, mimicking July conditions in June. A level 4 heat risk is in effect, affecting regions from the Midwest to the Northeast.
