💨 Abstract
Chinese and U.S. trade negotiators concluded two days of talks in Stockholm without a clear path to prevent tariffs from returning to high levels that had previously halved trade between the world's two largest economies. Without an agreement, both countries are set to impose historic, mutual tariffs on imports starting August 12. Chinese officials stated that negotiations will continue, but the immediate threat of increased tariffs looms.
