💨 Abstract
In 2025, Adidas and Mexican-American designer Willy Chavarría apologized after the state of Oaxaca accused them of cultural appropriation for their "Oaxaca Slip-On" shoe design. The design was criticized for copying the traditional Oaxacan "huarache" sandal from the community of Villa Hidalgo Yalálag.
