💨 Abstract
Venezuela has submitted additional evidence to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding its claim over the Esequibo region, rich in petroleum, which is contested with Guyana. Venezuela does not recognize the ICJ’s jurisdiction and will not accept any judgment. It argues that the 1966 Geneva Agreement is the sole legal document for resolving the dispute. Guyana, which administers the territory, maintains that the ICJ has binding jurisdiction.
