💨 Abstract
Florida will allow black bear hunting for the first time in a decade. The decision, approved unanimously by the state's Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, follows a constitutional amendment supporting hunting and fishing. Despite opposition from conservation groups citing ethical and safety concerns, the commission views hunting as a tool for managing bear populations. Florida's bear population has tripled since 1992 and spreads across more than half the state. Hunters may use a range of methods, including bows and dogs.
