💨 Abstract

The Trump administration plans to request the Supreme Court to review the constitutionality of a presidential decree ending birthright citizenship. This follows a federal appeals court upholding a nationwide injunction against the decree. If the Supreme Court takes the case, it could become a major decision for the decade, potentially ruling by mid-2026. Several lower courts have blocked the decree, with the 9th Circuit being the first appeals court to fully find it unconstitutional.
