💨 Abstract

In August 2025, CNN reported on the dire conditions for girls' education in Afghanistan under Taliban rule. Since 2021, the Taliban have closed secondary schools and universities for girls and women. Schools are heavily monitored and restricted, focusing solely on Islam with limited scope for subjects like science or languages. This situation has led to many refugee families and individuals struggling since barriers to accessing formal education and practical skills, notably impacting girls’ aspirations and livelihoods.
