💨 Abstract
The European Union imposed new sanctions on Russia, targeting 189 ships from its "shadow fleet" used to evade Western restrictions on oil transport due to the Ukraine war. The EU also froze assets and imposed travel bans on several officials and companies. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas warned that more sanctions are forthcoming, as Russia's actions and enablers will face severe consequences. The EU has now targeted nearly 350 ships in total.
