In the fifth stage of the 2025 Giro d'Italia, Mads Pedersen secured his third victory in five stages, narrowly beating Edoardo Zambanini in a close sprint finish in Matera, Italy. Pedersen extended his lead over Primoz Roglic to 17 seconds. The stage was 151 kilometers from Ceglie Messapica to Matera. The race's longest stage, 227 kilometers from Potenza to Naples, is scheduled for Thursday.
