💨 Abstract
On May 20, 2025, the Supreme Court ruled that Maine must count the votes of Rep. Laurel Libby, a GOP lawmaker who was censured for identifying a transgender teen athlete on social media. Libby's votes must be counted pending further legal proceedings. The court majority sided with her, asserting her right to free speech and representation despite her refusal to apologize.
