After Club World Cup heatwave in US, soccer players’ union warns of higher risk at next World Cups -
💨 Abstract
During the Club World Cup in the U.S., soccer players faced extreme heat. FIFPRO, the global union warn that this issue will be bigger at the next two men's World Cups. Six of the 16 host cities for next year's World Cup are considered high-risk for heat stress. Similar concerns arise for the 2030 World Cup in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. FIFPRO suggests measures like longer halftime breaks and more cooling breaks to mitigate heat.
