In a surprising turn, Estonian junior Mark Lajal defeated American second seed Reilly Opelka at 7-6 (3), 6-3. Portuguese seventh seed Nuno Borges also secured a victory against American Nishesh Basavareddy with a score of 7-6 (2), 6-2. In Russian women's tennis, Veronika Kudermetova topped Polina Kudermetova in a straight-set 6-3, 6-3 match.
