Tarik Skubal pitched effectively into the eighth inning as the Detroit Tigers defeated the Chicago Cubs 3-1. Skubal allowed eight hits, struck out six, and walked none in 7 2/3 innings. He has been dominant in his last 11 starts, posting a 1.61 Spencer Torkelson and Jahmai Jones hit home runs for Detroit. Cubs starter Ben Brown allowed two runs in seven innings.
