💨 Abstract
Israel supports armed Palestinian groups in Gaza, allegedly to counter Hamas. Aid groups and U.N. officials claim these groups, like the Popular Forces led by Yasser Abu Shabab, loot supplies. Israel denies these allegations. The Abu Shabab group is reportedly guarding food distribution centers in southern Gaza. Earlier, its leader was involved in smuggling. Aid workers suggest Israel's backing of these groups is to control aid distribution and potentially displace the local population.
