Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers showcased his pitching prowess, striking out 11 with no walks in a 2-1 victory over Texas. This performance boosted his chances of winning his second straight Cy Young Award, an achievement last accomplished in the American League by Pedro Martinez in 1999 and 2000. Skubal also leads the AL in ERA, with Detroit maintaining the best record and a significant lead in the AL Central.
