💨 Abstract

As schools close for summer in D.C.’s Wards 7 and 8, Martha’s Table is expanding its “Joyful Food Market” to provide free meals. The markets, open Tuesdays through Fridays, offer fresh fruits, vegetables, and shelf-stable foods with no eligibility requirements. They also feature cooking demonstrations and activities for kids. The organization anticipates high demand due to rising grocery prices and job losses, with daily visits doubling over the past year.
