đź’¨ Abstract
A federal judge ordered the release of Badar Khan Suri, a Georgetown University scholar from India, who was detained under the Trump administration's crackdown on foreign students deemed threats over their social media posts and family ties. Suri, arrested last March, was held in Texas while facing deportation for his wife's alleged connection to Hamas. Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles ruled for his release, citing substantial constitutional claims and protected political speech.
