In their exhibition opener, the Patriots routed the Washington Commanders 48-18. Rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson made an immediate impact with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Quarterback Drake Maye and other rookies also shined, giving a glimpse of the new-look Patriots offense under coach Mike Vrabel and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Washington, resting many starters, struggled.
