💨 Abstract
In Harare, Zimbabwe, 3-year-old Gracious Chikova received life-saving open-heart surgery thanks to visiting Egyptian surgeons working with local doctors. The "heart camp" offers hope to families who can't afford surgery abroad. Zimbabwe faces critical shortages of cardiothoracic specialists and equipment, with only five specialists serving a large number of children born with heart defects. The visiting surgeons, along with local efforts, have saved 55 children since 2023.
