💨 Abstract
Following consistent rainfall and cooler temperatures, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) has lifted the drought watch in the D.C. region, which had affected 6 million residents for nearly a year. Significant rainfall over the past six weeks and favorable weather predictions led to this decision. The region is expected to receive above-normal precipitation for the next three months. While the drought watch has been lifted, officials encourage residents to continue conserving water.
